We travelled around the whole route in May, and it wasn’t too busy but we were travelling by car, which we would suggest is the best way to travel this route as many car parks and roads weren’t suitable for large campers, let alone motorhomes.

Also, wild camping is illegal and there are limited camper and motorhome spots, so a car gives you much more scope for exploring off the beaten path.

🔎 If you want to explore more of Scotland by car, and avoid the crowds, consider a road trip around Aberdeenshire.
